Agoritsa Barczak, Psy.D.

 

Dr. Agoritsa Barczak is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, as well as a Licensed Sex Offender Evaluator in Illinois. She has extensive experience in conducting forensic evaluations and providing expert testimony for the courts on matters related to competency for trial, insanity plea, risk for sexual dangerousness, prediction of violence, and Miranda rights issues. She also specializes in malingering assessments for individuals suspected of feigning or exaggerating symptoms of mental illness.

 

Dr. Barczak has worked for the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) with individuals adjudicated Unfit to Stand Trial and Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity in secure psychiatric facilities. She was also employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) as the Psychology Administrator for Sheridan Correctional Center’s Division of Mental Health, as well as the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ).

 

Dr. Barczak has also conducted community based neuropsychological and clinical assessments, including pre-employment screenings and fitness for duty evaluations for law enforcement candidates and personnel.

 

Dr. Barczak is currently the Forensic Court Services Administrator for the Mental Health Division of IDHS. In this role, she formulates and implements statewide policies and procedures for state-operated forensic hospitals and community-based forensic providers. Additionally, Dr. Barczak serves as the co-chair of a systemwide assessments subcommittee for DHS forensics. She is also involved in proposing legislative changes to the state’s forensic statutes.
